The Chivalric Doctrine
This set of principles is the law for all members of the Order of Prince Daniel of Kholm. The Knights and Dames of the order must strive to live by the Chivalric Doctrine as it is the fundamental basis of the order’s belief. This doctrine was created to spread the ideals of chivalry and it is the embodiment of all that the order stands for.
Below are the revised Code of Chivalry adopted by the Order of Prince Daniel of Kholm. Each law is explained in detail.
Revised Code of Chivalry
1. “Thou shalt swear allegiance to and defend the House of Macak d'Este Piccolomini d'Aragona and the Council of Noble Patrons”
- Because this order is a chivalric society, all members will pledge allegiance to the patrons of the order.
2. “Thou shalt defend thy belief in God and thy faith.”
–The order respects all faiths and creeds because the order believes that the aims of all religions are to unite the people in their belief and unity will, in the future, give way to peace and harmony.
3. “Thou shalt respect all weaknesses, and shalt constitute thyself the defender of them.”
–The members of the order must defend the weak and the oppressed. If all efforts for negations have failed and only the use of force would bring peace and justice, only then will you use force to restore order.
4. “Thou shalt love the world in which thou wast born.”
–All members must not harm the world and must do everything to protect it. The environment at present is in danger of being destroyed. There is only one world where we are welcome and it is this world which was given to us. The Knights and Dames of the Order of Prince Daniel of Kholm must become stewards of the world.
5. “Thou shalt not recoil before thine enemy.”
–The order considers its enemy the oppressors and those who wage war. Those who are contrary to the principles of the order and hinder the progress of the order are walls which prevent the world from achieving harmony and peace. However, there is a question of the use of violence to restore peace or to achieve any of the goals of the order. Only when all the possible peaceful means have been used should the order approve of the use of force.
6. “Thou shalt make war against the enemy without cessation, and without mercy.”
–The order must never stop attempting to fulfill its missions. Our principles and this doctrine must be spread to as many people as possible starting with our families. The children are the hope of the future. Indoctrinating them in the principles of the order and chivalry is a must and a responsibility to all members of the order. By securing the future, we have strengthened our fight in the next generation against all the evils that hinder humanity from progressing.
7. “Thou shalt perform, scrupulously, thy feudal duties, if they be not contrary to the laws of thy God.”
–Members of the order must not forget their duties to God, their country and the order. Feudal duties refer to the responsibilities as a Knight and Dame of the order, that which is to abide by this doctrine and the principles and laws of the order.
8. “Thou shalt never lie, and shall remain faithful to thy pledged word.”
–If one promises, they must strive and do all they can to fulfill it.
9. “Thou shalt be generous, and give largess to everyone.”
–This is part of our effort to help the needy. Greed is the root of thievery, violence and jealousy. With the ideals of generosity, we can combat the effects of greed. We need not distribute everything in our possession which would make our lives uncomfortable. What we need is to give when we have plenty. This does not mean only financial or material support but also time and our help.
Indoctrination
Members of the order must follow strictly this doctrine. Once you have indoctrinated yourself and when you have mastered these principles, their applications in life and their outcomes, you must indoctrinate the youth. It must be done at an early age so that it would be easy for them to apply this to their lives. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Thus the order must shape the future in order for us to secure the values of the future. It is these values which will shape the future society.
