Senate of the Order of Prince Daniel of Kholm

The Senate is formed by the 6 Regional Grand Commanders of the Order who represents to provinces of the order and the Grand Chancellor who represents the international members not aligned with a Grand Priory or Commandery. It is a unicameral legislative assembly of the order which can pass decrees which would take effect within the entire order.

Each member has a vote and can submit Proposals that if voted upon by the majority, can become Senate Decrees.

The Grandmaster acts as the President of the Senate whose function is more of a facilitator of the meetings.

Submitting a Draft Resolution

1. Inform the Grandmaster of the order about your Proposal. The format for proposed resolutions must be followed. You will request a session to be held for it. You must mention the duration of the session. Usually one week is enough. If there is need to extend it, a motion to extend debate can be made during the session.

2. Once your resolution is approved, the Grandmaster will inform other members Senate about a session and when will it be held and until when. Senators must confirm their attendance. Only those who confirm are allowed to speak at the Senate Session.

3. The Grandmaster will present the proposal. Once it has been presented, deliberation may begin.

4. If during the session, one feels that enough discussion has been made but the session has not yet reached its duration, a member can make a "motion to close debate" which will move it to voting. If the debate has reached its duration but several members feel that discussion is not enough, anyone can make a "motion to extend debate" and must mention for how long will it be extended.

5. After the senate has closed the debate, it will automatically be moved to voting. A simple majority is needed to pass the Proposal to a Decree.
